Arab League foreign ministers say their countries will take the measures necessary to confront Islamic State militants.

During a meeting in Cairo Sunday, the foreign ministers endorsed a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last month that calls on member states to "act to suppress the flow of foreign fighters, financing and other support to Islamic extremist groups in Iraq and Syria."

However, the final statement did not explicitly endorse U.S. airstrikes against the militants.

Earlier Sunday, President Obama said he will outline this week the U.S. plan for dealing with Islamic State militants.
